The Big Reveal

I can't leave you without showing that I did indeed clean up that MESS. I worked most of July and that last couple of weeks...here are the after pictures. I still want to do a few things, mostly decorative (pictures, window treatments), but it is functional this way and we have enjoyed doing things up there this week.









My favorite part is the nice shelving for the sewing and craft supplies. That whole area has my sewing machines and everything I'll need if I ever find time to sew again.


One of the things I want to do is coordinate all the storage containers. I know it will take time and lots of 40% off Michael's coupons, but these shoeboxes I painted are a start. I glued phrases on them and there are 5 all the same in a row.



I am very proud of all the work this represents, but mostly we are just so happy to have this space. We moved the Wii up there and they can spend time reading on the new futon, games, art...Just a great space.

Mission Organization

I have been working all summer to revamp our former playroom into a teen entertainment/school room. I am ashamed to say it had fallen into disuse simply because it was a total disaster. The show Mission Organization on HGTV is my favorite so I decided to model my effort and this post after that. Here are a couple of before pics...





The first step was to sort and purge. We began this process last Spring Break and got it all sorted off the floor into these many labeled tubs:





And of course the most important tubs of all, which were emptied many times in the job.



We originally had a 6 ft banquet table with two computers, a TV, and a printer. Too much space!!!!!!!!! So I moved a much smaller desk there for the kids' computer and put mine downstairs. dsB proudly set it all up for them.



That's as far as we got during Spring Break, then I had to wait until summer....and you'll have to wait to see the after pictures because W is calling me to do math with him. :)
